Physical Euphoria

This work aims to simulate a physical reaction/emotion: the raw, burning urge to scratch at the itching skin. A euphoria that can be so overwhelming, you accidently scratch to the point of bleeding. In the moment all you care about it satisfying the craving you’ve battled with for the last few hours. You’re a child told not to scratch at your chicken pox – you know you aren’t allowed so you do it when your parent isn’t looking. Helena was intrigued by dissecting the feeling, sensations and texture of skin conditions. More specifically their own eczema and psoriasis. They wanted to encapsulate those 3 descriptors in a way that was accessible for someone who doesn’t have a skin condition but could gain somewhat of an understanding through looking at the work.
