Meet, Helena
A multi-disciplinary artist and founder of Studio Sib. Graduate of Manchester School of Art (UK), completing a degree in BA (Hons) Fine Art & Art History.
While Helena’s creative interests lie within art and design in its heterogeneous forms; their fine art practice explores life as queer, disabled artist.
With a background in Art & Design, Graphic Design and Photography; projects and work include interior design, furniture design, exhibitions, videography, photography and product development.
Background
Originally from Lancashire in the North-West of England, Helena currently resides in Manchester with their partner and house rabbits - Sybil, Cedric and Arthur. Growing up on farmland in the heart of the Lancashire countryside, creativity and imagination flourished into integral components of Helena’s daily life. Helena is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and uses they/them pronouns.
Helena is a semi-ambulatory wheelchair user and lives with a number of chronic illnesses. These illnesses have dominated much of their life, particularly from early teens onwards.
Helena’s artistic practice is inspired by a number of conditions, including: Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Raynaud’s phenomenon, Psoriasis, Eczema, Irritable bowel syndrome and Fibromyalgia.
